"Music for a Bachelor's Den" series

this is courtesy of the "fear and loathing with el crowley" blog. many thanks to "el crowley"! [*grin*]

really rather fun and very inconsistent collection of "batchelor's den" tunes. most of them are exotica, others are lounge. if you like the ultra-lounge stuff, then you will have heard some of these - and you'll like the rest.

here's the page link ...

"Jook Joint Blues" series

these are from "Home of the Blues" to whom i give most fervent thanks!

i thot these would be dance hall blues - more R&B than anything else. instead they are _blues_ songs. good, sometimes danceable stuff that makes nifty pool hall juke box music. the box set has four disks and they are all fun.

Jook Joint Blues CD-A -You'd Be Dancing, Too!
Jook Joint Blues CD-B -That Guy's Crazy
Jook Joint Blues CD-C -And That Was Good Times
Jook Joint Blues CD-D -You're Going To Have Fun

"Jungle Exotica" series

thanks to the "Rockin' Bandit" folks for this set.

i have no idea what the compiler thot the theme of this comp was supposed be. it seems to be a combo of surf, garage band, strip joint and pool hall music. [*grin*] some are novelty songs that i wish weren't there, but most are enjoyable if you want some rather rowdy background music for your next bull session.

as far as i can tell there are only these two.

"Las Vegas Grind" series

thanks again to the folks at "Rock It!".

a collection of las vegas stripper music. some of the album covers are pretty good pokes at the stereotypical guy who attends strip joints [*grin*] while the others are stripper pics. the music is classic for the venue. about 20% is instro and about 10% is noticeably noisy.

enjoyable stuff if you like the style. i do! [*grin*]

"Bump Jump Jive" series

thanks for these go to the folks at "Rock It!'.

a really fun series of jive/r&b/swing/jump blues/whatever-ya-wanna-call-it music. [*grin*] i think of it as swing since that what i enjoy most. it's pro'ly better to think of it as r&b, tho. dance music with a beat to dance WITH someone instead of AT someone.

french "Instrumental Guitar" series

this one it thanks to the folks at the "ROCK IT!" blog.

an odd but enjoyable set of french instrumental tunes. mostly guitar oriented but a few that are more focused on other instruments - drums for instance. there is at least one NON-instro tune. [*grin*] some are surf-ish but most are more of the pop style in my opinion. fun stuff!

"Model-T Boogie" series

and here's another from RYP & Gyro1966. thanks, dudes!

hot boogie songs from the 30s thru the 50s. many are fairly bawdy and _all_ are fun. well worth the time to gather these and listen to 'em.

"Those Dirty Blues" series

thanks once again to RYP & Gyro1966 for these.

yet another collection of raunchy blues songs. the usual suspects are there - plus a few not-so-common ones. [*grin*] enjoyable stuff!

"Music for Moderns" series from Swank Living

thanks to Swank Daddy for this set of comps [and the location of #5].

easy listening and lounge stuff that i rather enjoy in moderate doses. there are currently 7 of 'em. i'll post others here as i find them.

-ps
i just realized why these have been nagging at me while listening to 'em again. my "lounge" definition is night-club-lounge-act music. this is lounging-at-home-with-friends,-good-drinks-and-good-food easy listening music. once i changed my expectations the niggling nag went away. [*grin*]

"I'm a Bad, Bad Girl" series

thanks to RYP & Gyro1966 yet again. [*grin*]

nifty blues or r&b [depending pretty much on how you happen to perceive it - i hear blues] series focusing, obviously, on ladies. it aint the same comp as the "Sultry Divas" collection here ...
http://www.amazon.com/Sultry-Divas/dp/B001Q1S4EG

... tho there is a bit of overlap in performers. holiday, barker and washington are the 1st three i notice. both are fine, _fine_ collections of blues ladies a-singing.
